La trasformazion maligna della displasia fibrosa é molto rara. La frequenza é amentata nelle forme poliostotche specialmente se associate a sindrome di McCun Albright. Sono stati riportati in questa metanalisi i lavori degli ultimi dieci anni per un totale di 130 pazienti affett da displasia fibrosa di cui 6 con degenerazione maligna. In tutti gli studi la diagnosi é stata effettuata mediante F'integrazione della diagnostica per immagini con l'esame bioptico e tutti casi sono stati trattati mediante intervento chirurgico resettivo piu chemioterapia pre- e post-operatoria. La soprawivenza a anni e stata del 50% e dei 6 pazienti trattati due sono deceduti per lo sviluppo di patologia sistemica. Tale review vuole aumentare I' attenzione sulle possibilita di trasformazione maligna, spesso non sospettata, nei pazienti affetti da displasia fibrosa.
